Information on Placenta Therapy

What is Placenta?

Placenta (Placenta) refers to the “afterbirth” in mammals. The placenta is a temporary organ formed during pregnancy inside the mother’s womb to protect and nurture the fetus. Once its role is fulfilled at the time of delivery, it is expelled from the body.

The placenta carries out a wide range of vital functions: supplying the fetus with all necessary nutrients and oxygen, detoxifying and excreting harmful substances, supporting immune functions, and secreting hormones. In humans, a single fertilized egg measuring only about 0.2 mm in diameter grows into a baby weighing around 3,000 g in just ten months. It is the placenta that supports this miraculous growth of life, making it an essential organ for the birth of new life.

Research has shown that using the placenta can have beneficial effects on various medical conditions.

Placenta Therapy at Yui Clinic

At our clinic, we provide placenta therapies using approved medical products as well as self-financed treatments.

As a medical treatment, we offer human-derived placenta injection drugs (Laennec and Melsmon), both approved by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan.
As self-financed options, we provide placenta tissue therapy and injection treatments, as well as placenta capsules.
For placenta tissue therapy, injection treatments, and placenta capsules offered as self-financed care, we use placental tissue derived from healthy mothers without infectious diseases. The tissue undergoes sterilization by autoclaving during the manufacturing process, and bacterial culture testing is performed on the final tissue materials and injectable solutions.

All placenta preparations used at our clinic are carefully refined and supervised by the clinic director to ensure safety and quality.

What is Placenta Tissue Therapy?

Placenta tissue therapy is a treatment method in which placenta (afterbirth) tissue is implanted (embedded) into the body. It is one form of placenta therapy that uses the placenta for treatment (such as injections or supplements).

This therapy combines the beneficial effects of the placenta itself—such as promoting mental stability and enhancing vitality—with the effects of “tissue therapy,” which stimulates cells throughout the body, enhances biological responses, regulates the autonomic nervous system, and balances immune function. Together, these effects make it effective for a wide range of conditions.

At our clinic, we use concentrated placenta tissue preparations without any added chemicals. Because the placenta tissue remains in the body for a longer period, the therapeutic effects of the placenta are enhanced. In addition, the procedure does not involve cutting the skin; instead, placenta tissue is injected using medical instruments. This minimizes physical burden and leaves no scars. The injections are administered subcutaneously into areas such as the buttocks or abdomen.

The effects of placenta tissue therapy generally last longer than those of injections. A single treatment is said to provide effects lasting about 3–4 weeks, though this varies among individuals. For stronger and more noticeable effects, we recommend receiving the initial treatments at two-week intervals.

Active Ingredients in Placenta

Amino acids, proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, nucleic acids, and more.

General Effects of Placenta

  • Skin-beautifying effects: Promotes healthy skin, whitening, firmness, hydration, and improvement of wrinkles.

  • Anti-fatigue effects: Helps relieve chronic fatigue and promotes recovery from tiredness.

  • Autonomic nervous system regulation: Improves insomnia, anxiety, depressive feelings, and autonomic imbalance.

  • Endocrine regulation: Helps with menopausal symptoms (hot flashes, irritability) and irregular menstruation.

  • Immune activation: Enhances immunity and helps prevent colds.

  • Anti-inflammatory effects: Improves conditions such as atopic dermatitis, acne, hay fever, and gingivitis.

  • Removal of active oxygen: Provides anti-aging and anti-oxidative effects, helping to slow down aging.

  • Improvement of blood circulation and hematopoiesis: Relieves poor circulation, headaches, stiff shoulders, and back pain.

  • Hepatoprotective and detoxifying effects: Improves liver function.

Placenta therapy has been reported to be effective for the above conditions and symptoms.

However, the therapeutic effects may vary depending on the individual.

Precautions for Placenta Therapy

  • In rare cases, the injection site may become red, swollen, and develop an infection. If this occurs, please be sure to visit our clinic or contact us by phone. Follow the instructions provided by the attending physician.

  • In principle, placenta therapy can be safely combined with various medications, acupuncture, and other treatments you may currently be receiving at medical institutions.

Effects of Placenta Therapy

Compared to ordinary pharmaceuticals, which are effective only for limited diseases (symptoms), placenta injections alone have been shown to be effective for a wide variety of conditions across many medical fields, as listed in the following table. Currently, health insurance coverage in Japan is limited to “hepatic dysfunction” and “menopausal disorders or insufficient lactation.” However, in practice, placenta therapy is widely recognized not only for these effects but also for many others listed in the table, including its benefits for beauty and anti-aging—which is truly remarkable.

In addition to medical injection drugs, placenta is also available at Yui Clinic in the form of suspension injections, tissue therapy, and oral medications.
